A 10 days Rwanda Safari taking you for the very best of Rwanda. Meet the gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest and wild game in Akagera. This safari will take you across Rwanda’s most visited tourist destinations.
The trip starts and ends in Kigali with a visit to Volcanoes National Park the very best destination for mountain gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking. You will also travel east and enjoy game viewing in Akagera National Park the only Savannah park in Rwanda. Lastly travel to the Nyungwe Forest National park, home to 13 primates species.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.
On arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by your tour guide and transfer to Top View Hotel(budget)/Urban Boutique Hotel(Deluxe)/Kigali Serena Hotel(Luxury).
Day 2: City tour and Transfer to Akagera National park.
In the morning, you will be picked from the hotel and go for a city tour. Visit the genocide memorial, Ntarama church, local markets and Ntarama church. You will then set off a scenic drive to Akagera national park, reaching in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Rusizi tented lodge/Akagera game Lodge.
Day 3: Morning game drive and boat cruise.
Early morning, you will go for game drives up to the northern part of the park to catch up with early raisers before they go into hiding. You will have chance to see, antelopes, giraffes, Elephants, Buffalos, bush bucks among others. After lunch, go for afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will be rewarded with view of game as hippos, crocodiles, as well as a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight (day 2).
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes NP.
In the morning after breakfast, you will exit the park and proceed to Volcanoes NP via Kigali. In the evening, you will visit the Iby’wachu where you will learn more about the Rwanda traditional culture. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/la palme Hotel/Muhabura Hotel.
Day 6: Gorilla tracking and adventure.
In the morning, with packed lunch, you will go for pre tracking briefing at the part headquarters before going for the gorilla tracking adventure in the forest. Tracking may take 3-6 hours depending on the movement of the gentle giants. Stay in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of one hour before returning back. Dinner and overnight stay (Day 5).
Day 7: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to lake Kivu.
This day, you will go for golden monkey tracking. On you will set off a spectacular drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. You may take a boat cruise up to the hot springs upon arrival. Dinner and overnight at Kivu Serena Hotel/Paradise Malahide/Palm Garden resort.
Day 8:Transfer to Nyungwe Forest NP.
In the morning after an early breakfast, you will set off to Nyungwe National park with en-route stopovers for photography and lunch,10 Days Rwanda Safari, reaching early in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Nyungwe Top View Lodge/Gisakura hotel.
Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon primate walk in the forest.
In the morning, you will set off to the forest for a chimpanzee tracking adventure. Embark to the hotel for lunch and in the afternoon, go for colobus monkey tracking where you will encounter other primates as baboons, vervet monkeys, and others. Alternatively, you may go for the breathtaking forest canopy walk, where you will view the entire Nyungwe Forest top view as well as birds among others. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali.
In the morning, you will have set off back to Kigali with en route stopover in Murambi genocide memorial , Butare museum , Nyanza museum, among other areas good for more information about Rwanda’s history and adventure. You will reach Kigali in the evening and transfer to the airport for departure if on schedule.
