The trip starts with a gorilla trek in the Volcanoes National Park. Later, meet the golden monkeys, an endangered monkey species that is endemic to the Virunga mountain ranges. Later travel to the Lake Kivu, a great place to relax and unwind after your gorilla safari.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National park.
You will be picked by your tour guide from the airport on arrival or from your hotel in Kigali and go for an optional city tour to visit the gisozi genocide memorial, nyamata church, local markets among other areas of interest. You will then drive to volcanoes National park in Ruhengeri with a spectacular view of the virunga Mountain ranges. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel(basic)/La palme Hotel(deluxe)/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge(Luxury).
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and cultural walk.
You will wake up early for breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters by 7:30am to start the briefing about the dos and don’ts with the gorillas. You will then be allocated the gorilla tracking group and then the driver will drive you up to the starting point of the gorilla tracking group allocated and then ascend the forest for the memorable adventure. Once you see the gorillas, a maximum of one hour is allowed to stay with them before descending back to the starting point. On the descent, you will meet your driver/guide and drive back to your Lodge for refreshment. In the evening, you may go for a cultural walk to Iby’wachu where you will be entertained in Banyarwanda traditional songs and learn more about their culture. Dinner and overnight stay at your Lodge.
Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and transfer to Lake Kivu.
In the morning after an early breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for the briefing before ascending the forest for golden monkey tracking where you will enjoy their play in the forest in search of food. In return, you will transfer to Lake Kivu reaching early for an optional boat cruise up to the hot springs. 4 Days Gorilla Tour Rwanda, Relax at the beach in preparation for dinner, and overnight at Paradise Malahide/ Kivu Serena Hotel/Palm garden resort.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali and departure.
In the morning after a relaxed breakfast, you will set off back to Kigali reaching early for shopping if necessary and later transfer to the airport to check-in for your departure flight.
