7 Days Uganda Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Safari

A 7 Days Uganda Safari that combines visits to three national parks; Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On this Uganda Safari, you will enjoy several adventures that include chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, mountain gorilla tracking in the ancient Bwindi Rain Forest, game viewing and a boat safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

This trip starts and ends in Kampala/Entebbe.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest; Home to 13 primates species
After breakfast, our safari guide will pick you up from the hotel. Travel to Kibale National park, the best place to see endangered chimpanzees in the wild. The journey takes you past the famous Nakayima Tree, one of the old cultural sites in Uganda. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the large remaining blocks of tropical rain forests in East Africa. The park hosts the highest density of primates in Africa. Primates that are protected in the rain forest include Chimpanzees, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Red Tailed monkey and Red Colobus among others.

You will have lunch enroute in Fort Portal Town. Later, go for evening cultural tour in the Batooro Community or nature walk to Amabeere ga Nyina Mwiru. Dinner and overnight at Chimpanzee guesthouse (Deluxe)/Kyaninga Lodge or Primates Lodge Kibale (Luxury).

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
After breakfast, the guide will pick you up for a transfer to the park headquarters. Get briefed about chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park. Led by the ranger guide, go for chimp tracking in the tropical rain forest. During the trek, you may also encounter other primates that live in the tropical rain forest. Upon meeting the chimpanzees, you have up to one hour to learn about these great apes! After spending one hour with the chimpanzees, return to the park headquarters. Have lunch and travel to the nearby Queen Elizabeth National Park. Relax at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Enganzi Lodge (Midrange) /Kyambura Game Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury)

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat cruise
Go for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The morning game drive is aimed at catching up with the early risers. These include bush bucks, elephants, buffaloes, elands and many more.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for a late breakfast. Relax at the lodge as you await for lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat safari along the Kazinga channel, a natural gateway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. A boat cruise is one of the amazing adventures not to miss while in Queen Elizabeth National Park. lots of wild game can be seen during the launch trip such as hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi National park
After breakfast, you will set off to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will travel through the Ishasha sector, famous for the tree climbing lions. You will experience game drives in the wilderness and try out for the look out for the famous tree-climbing lions. Continue to the north of Bwindi National Park. You will arrive in Bwindi in the afternoon. Relax at the lodge as you await the next day gorilla tracking expedition in the ancient rain forest. Dinner and overnight at Bakiga Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange) / Kiho Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury)

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
Wake up very early for breakfast. The guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Do not forget to carry your packed lunch and all the necessary gear that you need to track the endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla tracking is one of the most exciting wildlife safari experiences on planet earth. You will be guided by knowledgeable tour guides who will interprete to you the local flora and fauna that live in the impenetrable forest. You can also learn about the lifestyle of the mountain gorillas as well as their behaviors.

After the trek, have lunch. In the evening,  go for a guided community walk where you will interact with the people living in the neighboring communities. Dinner and overnight at your lodge. Bakiga Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange) / Kiho Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury)

Day 6: Transfer to lake Mburo and boat cruise
After breakfast, set off for Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savanna national park. Despute its size, the park is the best place to see zebras and elands. There is more interesting game to see within the park. Have lunch in Mbarara Town. Upon reaching the park, go for a boat cruise along Lake Mburo. The boat cruise will reward you with sightings of interesting game as well as a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight at Eagles Nest Lodge (Midrange) or Mihingo Lodge (Luxury)

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala and departure if on schedule
After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the Lake Mburo National Park. You can also go for a guided walking safari within the park. After lunch,  set off to Kampala. Enroute you will have a stopover to look at the Equator -where you will be able to stand and be on both hemispheres at once. You will arrive to Entebbe for an overnight.
