3 DAYS NYIRAGONGO TOUR.
This 3 days Nyiragongo hiking tour offers you an opportunity to explore one of the active Volcano in the Virunga mountain ranges. This consists of one night in Gisenyi and one night at the top of the volcano, the tour starting and ending in Kigali.
Day 1: Transfer to Gisenyi.
In the morning after breakfast, you will be picked from your hotel in Kigali and go for optional Kigali city tour. Visit the genocide memorial, local markets among others. You will then set off a scenic drive to Gisenyi viewing the Virunga Mountains en route. You will reach Gisenyi early in the evening for dinner and overnight at Paradise Malahide/ Kivu Serena Hotel/ Gorillas Hotel.
Day 2: Nyiragongo Hiking.
After breakfast, you will cross the border via Grande Barriere border at 8am and drive to Kibati Ranger Post, which is the starting point for the Nyiragongo volcano hike. You will receive briefing from this point; hire the porters in case you need to before setting off for the hike. The hike takes 6 hours depending on the strength and speed of the hikers. You will arrive at the top early in the evening, where you will have overnight at the Top shelters as you enjoy the views of the active lava lake.
Day 3: Descent the Volcano and transfer to Kigali.
At 6:30am, you will start descending back to Kibatsi, which will take four hours utmost. On arrival at Kibatsi, you will meet the driver and drive back to Goma and cross over to Rwanda via Grande Barriere border. You will proceed to Kigali reaching in the evening and transfer to the airport to check in for your departure flight if on schedule.
