Chimpanzee tracking and habituation.

Chimpanzee tracking and habituation are best done in Uganda especially, in Budongo forest in Murchison falls national park, Valley of Apes in kyambura gorge, Kibale national park, and kalinzu forest in Queen Elizabeth national park. However, chimps can also be spotted in the Maramagambo forest and semuliki national park. Chimpanzee tracking and habituation can only be accessed after paying a chimp permit which varies like chimp permit in Kibale costs $200 per person, the kyambura gorge and kalinzu permit costs $50 per day, and the budongo chimp permit costs$100 per day.

Chimpanzee tracking gives visitors one hour visit with gorillas whereas habituation visitors are given four hours visit with gorillas. before chimp tracking and habituation, visitors are first briefed to know the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking and habituation.

Gorilla tracking and habituation.

Gorilla tracking in Bwindi and mgahinga.Despite the fact that gorillas are spotted in Rwanda, Congo, and Uganda, Uganda is the best destination to do gorilla tracking. Uganda Gorillas are spotted in Bwindi impenetrable national park which inhabits about 400 individuals in four sectors that is Ruhija, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Buhoma as well as Mgahinga national park which inhabits the Nyakagezi gorilla family.

For visitors to access gorillas have to pay gorilla permits that cost $700 per person and habituation permits costs $1500 per person. Although congo permits are cheaper than that of Uganda, congo is less visited due to wars thus making Uganda the best destination and secured place for gorilla tracking.

Visitors for gorilla tracking are expected to pack cameras, raincoats, comfortable hiking boots, long trousers, long t-shirts, water &snacks. Visitors are given one-hour visits and are limited to 8 individuals. Gorilla tracking allows only children above 15 years of age as well as keeping a 7m distance while they are with gorillas.
